People & Place

Understanding people. Understanding place. Making better decisions.

Places work differently for different people.

We combine spatial analysis, research, community insight and data to understand how people interact with the places around them — identifying needs, pressures, gaps and opportunities.

From accessibility and public space to climate resilience and investment planning, we turn complex evidence into practical insight for better decisions.

The questions that matter
A common example

A council knows that communities are changing, but the evidence about where needs are shifting is scattered across datasets, surveys and anecdotal feedback.

How we help

We combine spatial analysis with community research to map where needs are changing and identify who is most affected.

Growing Up in a Hotter Britain

Children, climate and access to public space.

A Blueridge study exploring how heat, deprivation, access to recreation, shade and water interact — and how spatial evidence can help identify where intervention may be needed most.

Cross-capability work

Projects can combine expertise from multiple capabilities.

A climate-resilient public-space project, for example, could draw on all three practices — each answering a different question.

People & Place

Understanding communities, accessibility, heat exposure and provision.

What’s happening, where, and who does it affect?

Geology & Ecology

Understanding the natural environment and ecological conditions.

What are the physical and environmental conditions?

Management & Strategy

Developing the investment strategy, implementation approach or supporting digital systems.

What should the organisation do, and how can it deliver it?

Morgan Barkley

Morgan's background spans environmental consulting, operational leadership and complex project delivery in the UK and United States. Her work with park systems on xeriscaping, cave mapping and preservation gave her a practical understanding of how places work — and how the natural and built environment shapes the way communities live, move and spend time. She brings together technical evidence, community insight and strategic judgement to help organisations understand need, prioritise investment and make better decisions about the places they manage.
